Students were introduced to the work of Eric Carle and created paper collage insects using his painted collage technique.
During our first session the students learned how to create textural papers by sponging, splattering and scraping paint on white or colored papers. In the next session we discussed the physical characteristics of insects. Then they designed and created their own insect and made a pattern. During the last class they used these patterns to trace and cut out pieces of textured paper to use in their insect collages.
